Kidder Mathews Expanding into Dallas, Texas

Posted In — News & Press | Press Releases

Kidder Mathews, the largest fully independent commercial real estate firm in the Western U.S., is expanding into Dallas, Texas, with the addition of six brokers. Mart Martindale, Brandon Beeson, Wilson Stafford, John David Cobb, and Claire Schmeltekopf form an investment sales team, while Barrett Jones joins as a healthcare tenant advisory specialist. The move marks the firm’s first entry into Texas and expands its footprint to 20 offices across six states.

“Dallas has long been one of the country’s most dynamic commercial real estate markets, and we have been deliberate about finding the right people before planting our flag,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bill Frame, SIOR, CCIM. “This group brings an exceptional track record, deep roots in Texas, and the entrepreneurial mindset that defines Kidder Mathews. Their leadership gives us a strong foundation to build a full-service presence there and marks an exciting new chapter in our nearly 60-year history.”

The new office will serve the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and be led by former Edge Capital Markets co-founders Mart Martindale, Brandon Beeson, and Wilson Stafford. The brokers built a highly respected platform within Edge Realty Partners serving both institutional and private clients throughout Texas and surrounding states. Together with Cobb and Schmeltekopf, they have completed more than $3.5 billion in transactions and have valued more than $20 billion in assets.

The team’s expertise spans investment sales, capital markets, and distressed assets across retail, office, multifamily, medical office, land, and industrial properties. Their clients include KeyBank, EPR Properties Trust, Trigild, BH Properties, Argentic Investment Management, and CWCapital, to name a few.

In addition, Barrett Jones joins Kidder Mathews in Dallas, specializing exclusively in healthcare tenant representation. He brings extensive experience advising healthcare organizations, practices, and investors on real estate strategy and transactions across a broad range of property types, including medical office, campus, retail, office, and specialty healthcare facilities nationwide. He has represented clients including Vivo Infusion, Redesign Health, Chewy, and FastPace Health. Before Kidder Mathews, he served as CEO of JHRE, a brokerage dedicated exclusively to the healthcare industry, and as a broker with Cushman & Wakefield in Dallas.

“Kidder Mathews brings an approach to Texas that strongly aligns with how we have always operated,” said Martindale. “The firm’s independent culture gives brokers the freedom to put clients first, act decisively, and pursue the best solutions without unnecessary layers of bureaucracy. That model is a natural fit for our team and for the way business gets done in Texas.”

Mart Martindale joins as Senior Vice President, Managing Director, and Shareholder. A sixth-generation Texan with more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate investment sales and capital markets, Martindale co-founded Edge Capital Markets in 2012 and previously served as a Senior Director at Cushman & Wakefield and Berkadia. He has been named a D CEO Power Broker 11 times.

Brandon Beeson joins as Senior Vice President and Shareholder, bringing more than 25 years of experience in retail investment sales and capital markets. Beeson co-founded Edge Capital Markets in 2012 and previously served as a Senior Director at Berkadia and Cushman & Wakefield. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Wilson Stafford joins as Senior Vice President and Shareholder, with more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate investment sales and capital markets. Stafford was previously a Principal at Edge Capital Markets and has been named a D CEO Power Broker eight times.

John David Cobb joins as Associate Vice President, specializing in office and medical office investment sales, advising clients on the acquisition and disposition of commercial properties. Earlier in his career, Cobb worked as a research analyst and tenant advisor at Swearingen Realty Group after beginning in the industry as a financial analyst intern at CBRE.

Claire Schmeltekopf joins as Senior Associate, focusing on the acquisition, disposition, and valuation of multifamily, retail, and office assets. She has particular expertise in sub-performing and non-performing distressed properties on behalf of CMBS and agency special servicers, banks, and court-appointed receivers.

“Kidder Mathews has tremendous momentum, and it’s exciting to bring that to Texas,” said Darren Tappen, who will oversee the market as Regional President of Brokerage. “As we grow, we will remain focused on attracting accomplished professionals who can broaden our capabilities and play an important role in shaping our next chapter in the region.”

Kidder Mathews plans to add Asset Services and Valuation Advisory teams, extending beyond brokerage in Dallas-Fort Worth. Both service lines enter this next phase from positions of strength: Asset Services delivered its best first half on record, while Valuation Advisory achieved its strongest financial results in four years.

While the Dallas office is the company’s first physical presence in Texas, its professionals have long served clients throughout the market.

“You can expect to see a lot more of Kidder Mathews in Texas,” said Frame. “We are committed to growing thoughtfully, expanding our capabilities, and establishing a lasting presence across the state.”
