The Simon | Anderson Multifamily Team at Kidder Mathews completed a successful exchange on behalf of longtime client John Stephanus, selling four legacy properties in the Seattle area and purchasing The Postmark Apartments, a 243-unit contemporary community in Shoreline, Washington. Dylan Simon, Jerrid Anderson, Matt Laird, and JD Fuller represented John Stephanus as the buyer in The Postmark transaction.
The purchase was executed through a series of transactions the team previously announced in August:
- Swiss Gables Apartments | 108 units | Kent, WA
- Seattle Portfolio | 215 units total
- Charbern Apartments | 67 units | Capitol Hill
- Stockbridge Apartments | 76 units | First Hill
- Carolina Court Apartments | 72 units | South Lake Union
Proceeds from those sales were used to purchase The Postmark, completing a strategic repositioning from vintage assets held for more than 50 years into a newly constructed property strategically located near the client’s other holdings.
Delivered in 2020, The Postmark is one of the premier apartment communities in the Seattle area. The property offers a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes with high-end finishes and modern layouts. Amenities include a fitness center, yoga studio, resident lounge, rooftop deck, package lockers, bike storage, and secure parking.
Positioned in Shoreline’s North City neighborhood, The Postmark benefits from walkable retail and transit, including immediate access to the North/185th light rail station, which provides direct service to downtown Seattle and regional job centers.
These sales marked a deliberate shift from older, management-intensive buildings—many with significant capital expenditure needs—to a modern community with operational efficiencies and long-term stability. All transactions closed within a tight timeframe, underscoring the Simon | Anderson Multifamily Team’s ability to execute complex, multi-property strategies seamlessly.
“This was an excellent opportunity to move out of vintage properties and into one of the region’s newest, best-located communities,” said Simon. “By completing this exchange into Postmark, our client has secured long-term stability and enhanced operational performance.”
