Reality Sports Foundation Acquires Former Sound Christian Academy Campus in Tacoma, WA Sells for $6,375,000

Reality Sports Foundation, a nonprofit athletic organization, has acquired the former Sound Christian Academy campus at 2052 S. 64th Street in Tacoma, Washington for $6,375,000. Executive Vice President Matt McLennan, SIOR, CCIM, Senior Vice President Steve Pelluer, and Associate Vice President Zeke Pelluer of Kidder Mathews represented the buyer in the transaction, while Vice President Bruce Barker, CCIM, MBA, also with Kidder Mathews, represented the seller.

Reality Sports was able to purchase 7.34 of the 9.9-acre campus including a regulation gymnasium with retractable bleachers, a weightlifting center, and classrooms. The property also features a sports field, a fully covered outdoor basketball court, and ample parking—providing Reality Sports Foundation with a versatile, multi-use facility tailored to its needs.

Identifying the right property for a non-profit athletic organization presented several unique challenges. Reality Sports Foundation required high ceilings, wide clear-span spaces, sufficient parking, and occupancy classifications suitable for athletic and community use. Many otherwise viable properties were limited by industrial zoning that would not accommodate the organization’s intended programming. Maintaining budget discipline throughout the process was also a key priority, ensuring the foundation remained a responsible steward of its resources.

“Working with Reality Sports throughout this search was a great reminder of why patience and relationships matter in this business,” said McLennan. “When a client has a mission-driven purpose and a very specific set of needs, you can’t rush the process—you have to stay committed to finding the right fit. This team did exactly that. Seeing them secure a facility that truly supports their program made every step worthwhile.”

“It’s important for organizations to engage commercial real estate professionals early in the process. Helping the school achieve its goals required a thoughtful approach to parcelization and careful navigation of complex legal and financial considerations. This transaction was truly a team effort, and we are grateful for the opportunity to assist Sound Christian Academy with the first phase of the sale. We look forward to continuing our work with the school and assisting with the sale of the remaining parcels, which contain the dormitory and office buildings,” said Barker.
