Kidder Mathews is pleased to welcome valuation advisory specialist Eric Cross, MAI as a senior vice president in downtown Los Angeles. For over 20 years, he has focused on valuation assignments in the Southern California counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino, and Ventura. He also has extensive experience in the Central Valley of California, including Sacramento.
Cross began his commercial real estate appraisal career with Cushman & Wakefield, followed by CBRE, before forming Independent Valuation Consultants, Inc. — which he ran for 10 years until he joined Kidder Mathews.
His valuation experience includes traditional property types as well as special-purpose properties like churches, rail yards, equestrian centers, schools, and sea & airport facilities (FBO). He has represented a wide range of clients — with owners and occupants including Starbucks, Waste Management, CVS, United Grocers, LA Fitness, Trader Joe’s, and Taco Bell.
Cross brings a dynamic background to commercial real estate. Before appraisal, he served in the U.S. Peace Corps, worked as a bilingual teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and was an operations manager at a global manufacturer. He is fluent in Spanish and studied Latin American Studies at UCLA. Cross has also earned the prestigious MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, demonstrating his nuanced understanding of valuation and commitment to sound and ethical professional practice.
“Eric is a true expert in California property appraisal, with an outstanding track record of success,” said Randy Clemson, Executive Vice President of Kidder Mathews’ Valuation Advisory Services. “His market knowledge and bilingual abilities make him an asset, particularly as we work with more multicultural clients.”
“Kidder Mathews is known for producing meticulous appraisals through a team of respected, designated professionals, ensuring top-quality service with efficiency,” said Cross. “I look forward to continuing to grow my client base and collaborating with my valuation colleagues at the firm.”
Kidder Mathews now has more professionals with the MAI designation than any other independent commercial real estate firm on the West Coast. The valuation advisory group consists of 43 appraisers — including 25 MAI designees and seven members with the esteemed CRE® designation. These “Counselors of Real Estate” are prominent practitioners recognized for their expertise, experience, and ethics in providing advice that influences real estate decisions.
Over the past six years, Kidder Mathews Valuation Advisory Services group has seen substantial growth, with an over 50% increase in assignments.
