Longtime commercial real estate leader Eric Paulsen has been tapped to manage Kidder Mathews’ Southern California and Arizona offices as regional president of brokerage. Paulsen will lead more than 190 professionals in eight offices and focus on strategic business pursuits, recruiting, and client relationships.
Over Paulsen’s three-decade career, he has closed nearly $10 billion in assets across the country in every product type, in addition to helping raise $1.25 billion for a development fund. Before joining Kidder Mathews, Paulsen served as CEO of Topside Real Estate, a commercial firm in Newport Beach. Before Topside, he was the managing principal for Cushman & Wakefield’s Orange County and Inland Empire offices. Paulsen also served in multiple high-profile roles with Ten-X Commercial (formerly Auction.com) and as vice president with LNR Property Corporation, responsible for acquisitions and dispositions nationwide. Prior to that, Paulsen was an investment broker and vice president with CBRE.
Kidder Mathews has been quickly growing its presence in the Southern California and Southwest region since 2015. The firm now boasts 13 offices in California from the Bay Area to L.A. and San Diego. With a total of 21 offices and over 900 professionals, Kidder Mathews has become the largest independently owned commercial real estate firm on the West Coast.
While other commercial brokerages have been consolidating into larger publicly held firms, Kidder Mathews continues to capitalize on this trend by maintaining its outstanding culture and offering its unique platform to attract and retain high-caliber professionals. The platform is built on a streamlined management structure with commission splits that are much more favorable to brokers, robust support including award-winning professional marketing, a strong research program, and the opportunity for every employee to become a shareholder.
Kidder Mathews has been named an Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Company in America six times, achieving the magazine’s Honor Roll status. In addition, the firm boasts 68 Best Places to Work Awards across the West Coast and over 480 top rankings and awards by West Coast and national publications and media companies.
“We continue to see tremendous opportunity to expand our footprint in California, and Eric represents the quality, seasoned professional and respected industry leader that will help us be successful,” said Brian Hatcher, President & COO of Kidder Mathews.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to help grow Kidder Mathews in Southern California and Arizona. The firm’s outstanding culture and emphasis on employee ownership aligns brokers’ interests with those of the company in a way that I have not seen at other firms. They offer all the necessary tools and resources without all the layers of management and cumbersome processes that some other firms have. I know from experience this will be a desirable and winning platform to attract and retain top talent,” said Paulsen.
