An iconic presence in Pioneer Square for well over a century, the original Seattle Steam plant at 619 – 633 Post Ave. is bound for closure and sale. Ross Klinger at Kidder Mathews says that the firm will offer the property. It’s the smaller of two sister plants downtown. A few blocks north, the larger, newer plant at 1319 Western Ave. — on both sides of that street — supplies almost all the company’s steam heat. That will remain in use under current ownership.
