Derek is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Washington. Derek has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington. With deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, Derek has previously volunteered as director of volunteers for Stand Up for Kids in Seattle and served on the board of directors for the Center for Dialog and Resolution in Tacoma.
Derek Collins is a senior property manager based in the firm’s South Seattle office. Derek leads a property team which manages a 3.8 million square foot portfolio of industrial assets located in Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, and Sumner, Washington for one of the largest institutional investors in the United States. Derek has extensive experience with both private and institutional owners. Derek is responsible for preparing monthly asset manager reports, tenant improvement coordination and oversight, landlord and tenant relations, leasing support and coordination, maintenance oversight, long term capital planning, maintaining client governance standards, and overall management of the assets in his care. He has fostered strong relationships with his clients, vendors, and tenants and has a proven track record of providing high quality professional property management services to his clients.
Prior to joining Kidder Mathews, Derek was a real estate manager with CBRE. During his tenure with CBRE, Derek managed assets for several clients, with a focus on budgeting, long term capital planning, reporting, capital project management, asset maintenance, and tenant retention. He provided financial oversight of all aspects of the properties, including monthly and annual reporting.
Prior to CBRE, Derek was a lease analyst with T-Mobile. During his tenure with T-Mobile, Derek oversaw retail, operating, and cell site leases from the tenant prospective managing rent payments, tenant improvement projects, operating solutions, and all tenant obligations.
In the commercial real estate industry, since 2005, Derek has built a successful career, with a focus on property and asset management, financial management, forecasting, marketing, leasing support, construction and design management, contract negotiations, environmental inspections, and providing excellent customer service to his clients and tenants.
