Jim has over 40 years of experience in retail commercial brokerage and development. His brokerage activities have been divided equally between landlord and tenant representations.
Jim’s years of experience are a great asset to land owners, developers, or tenants. He offers excellent guidance, be it for land acquisition, entitlement, site planning and merchandising assistance, in a “ground up” development or planning a “roll out” strategy for a tenant’s expansion into a new market. For the owner of raw land, Jim is able to position the property prior to going to market in such a way as to maximize its value be it for sale, joint venture, or ground lease.
Jim has represented major development groups such as The Irvine Company, Vestar Development, Lewis Retail Centers, and Donahue Schriber. Jim has also completed transactions with Macerich, Westfield, General Growth Properties, and Simon Development. His store development work includes over 100 transactions for: Darden (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse), Applebee’s, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, El Torito, Marie Callender’s, Red Robin, Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Pacific Bell/Cingular Wireless (now AT&T), and all the major fast-food users.
Prior to joining Kidder Mathews, Jim was with Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance for four years, Studley for four years, and also founded Oaks Development Company. Additionally, he spent 10 years as senior vice president of the Grubb & Ellis Company in Newport Beach; 11 years as a partner at Lee & Associates in Newport Beach; five years with National Services Company in Newport Beach; and four years with Coldwell Banker Commercial (now CBRE) in the Phoenix and Kansas City markets.
