Trinity Lutheran Church in Everett, Washington has listed its historic property at 2324 Lombard Avenue for sale. Kidder Mathews Senior Vice President Steve Pelluer and Associate Vice President Zeke Pelluer are representing the congregation.
For more than a century, Trinity has been a place of worship, inclusion, and service. Organized in 1904 as St. Paul Lutheran Church, it became Trinity English Lutheran Church in 1914 and was Everett’s first Lutheran congregation to worship in English rather than serve a specific immigrant community. In 2009, Trinity became a Reconciling in Christ congregation, publicly affirming its welcome to LGBTQ+ people.
Today, the property provides safe and affordable meeting space for 12-step recovery groups and houses a weekly aid bank for neighbors in need. Narcotics Anonymous and other recovery groups have met there since 1979, and the aid bank distributes food, clothing, toiletries, blankets, and other essentials every Friday.
As affordable meeting space becomes increasingly difficult for 12-step groups to secure, Trinity hopes a new owner will allow the recovery meetings to remain and consider carrying forward the aid bank as an established community ministry.
“This building has always been much more than the place where our congregation gathers for worship. It has been a place of welcome, recovery, and practical care for our neighbors,” said Pastor Tim Feiertag. “The sale creates uncertainty for the programs and people who rely on this space. We hope to find a buyer who recognizes their importance and wants to continue them here, or support a thoughtful transition if they need to find new homes.”
Designed by prominent Seattle architecture firm Bebb and Gould, the historic sanctuary has served generations of worshippers and community members. The 13,728-square-foot property includes 9,644 square feet of church space and a 4,084-square-foot administration building. Features include sanctuary seating for approximately 200, classrooms, offices, large meeting rooms, two kitchens, fellowship and dining halls, ADA lifts, a garden, approximately 18 parking stalls, and additional street parking.
The 0.41-acre property is adjacent to Clark Park and near downtown Everett, Everett High School, and North Middle School. The church portion dates to the early 1920s, with additions completed in 1940 and 1969.
“Properties with this combination of character, history, flexibility, and community significance rarely become available,” said Steve Pelluer. “Trinity has created a place where people have found connection, support, and essential services for generations. We share the congregation’s intention to find the right buyer, who will honor that legacy and carry its spirit of service forward.”
