The term “affordable housing” is thrown around so much that its meaning seems to have become muddled in political jargon and developer-speak. The term sounds good such that it sometimes takes on the air of an advertising pitch enticing working people, low- and moderate-income renters with promises of rental costs that shouldn’t take the bulk of their income…but do.
