Tacoma’s Hot Housing Market Could Spur Demand for Office Space

At 5.9%, the office vacancy rate in Pierce County was the lowest in the region during the first quarter of 2021. That rate, however, is rising.

It was 5.25% at the end of 2020, according to a Kidder Mathews report. In Tacoma’s Central Business District (CBD), which holds 33% of the county’s office space, the first-quarter vacancy rate hit 7.9% — which is up from 7.6% at the end of 2020.
