Report: Pierce County Apartment Development Pipeline Heats Up as Renters Exit Seattle

Pierce County’s apartment development pipeline grew 40% year over year, according to a Kidder Mathews report. In Tacoma, the increase was even higher at 45%.

A significant portion of the apartments under development are in urban Tacoma, said Brandon Lawler, associate vice president of Kidder Mathews’ multifamily team. Much of it is clustered around the Hilltop Tacoma Link light rail extension, which opens in 2022.
