A handful of commercial real estate students at Portland State University will get a little help with their schooling thanks to a new scholarship program.

The Society of Industrial & Office Realtors, including the Oregon Chapter and the SIOR Foundation in Washington, D.C., has partnered with PSU’s Center for Real Estate to establish a $24,000 fund to create four $4,000 scholarships for graduate students. The scholarships will be awarded next spring.

The academic partnership was arranged by SIOR Oregon Chapter president Tom Talbot, a senior vice president and partner with Kidder Mathews, and Stan Kleweno, a SIOR associate member, SIOR Foundation trustee and principal of Transpacific dk Investments LLC. Gibson and Erin O’Roak, assistant director of development for the business school and a representative for the Portland State University Foundation, also helped arrange the partnership.
