San Diego, Calif. (December 14, 2016) – San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, recently visited Kidder Mathews in San Diego and met with employees and brokers to discuss the Kidder Mathews and San Diego Workforce Partnership.

San Diego Workforce Partnership works with community partners, to design training programs that empower job seekers to meet the current and future workforce needs of employers in San Diego County. SDWP funds the training and has a network of 15 America’s Job Center of California sites where San Diego residents, looking for employment or career changes, can receive employment services free of charge. Services include career assessment, job training, and job search assistance. SDWP also has a business services team comprised of professionals who work directly with employers to meet their specific staffing needs at no cost.

In addition to the discussion about SDWP, Faulconer talked about the State of the City (financial review) and how The City of San Diego is receptive to working with companies that are finding creative and non-traditional ways to help facilitate growth. With inventory for commercial real estate properties at a low, Faulconer discussed opportunities to purchase off market San Diego City sites. Faulconer provided Kidder Mathews brokers with information on how to reach out to the City of San Diego office in regards to off market properties.

SDWP changes lives by helping people find permanent employment. Kidder Mathews has volunteered to take part by offering job shadowing once a month to students in the SDWP program. Students will be able to observe different departments in the company and see the broad scope of opportunities within commercial real estate.

“Partnering with San Diego Workforce allows Kidder Mathews to get involved and help in the community, and it is a great benefit to us as well,” said Glenn Martin, a senior property manager with Kidder Mathews. “As potential candidates are identified, there may be opportunities for internships within the company,” he said.

In addition to the discussion about SDWP, the Mayor gave a State of the City and financial review, and discussed how The City of San Diego is receptive to working with companies that are finding creative and non-traditional ways to help facilitate growth.
